ENDORSED: Democratic presidential hopeful Chris Dodd has won the backing of the International Association of Fire Fighters, while Sen. Hillary Clinton secured the endorsement Tuesday of the United Transportation Union. In the 2004 elections, organized labor gave $53.6 million to Democratic candidates and committees. That increased to $66 million for 2006 and is expected to increase again for 2008.
CASTRO’S VIEW: Writing in a Cuban newspaper Tuesday, Fidel Castro said U.S. presidential candidates “are now immersed in the Florida adventure,” a reference to the battle for votes in a state that is home to hundreds of thousands of Cuban exiles.
