Roderick Ashby Mundy, Sr., of Charlottesville, formerly a long time resident of Mountain Lakes NJ. Died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007.

He was born in Roanoke , VA Aug. 18, 1922.

He attended Roanoke City public schools, graduating with honors in 1940.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hampton Sydney College in 1943.

He served in the US Navy as a commissioned officer in WWII in the Pacific Theater.

He received his PhD in chemistry from Cornell University.

Dr. Mundy worked in the pharmaceutical industry from 1950-1993, working for companies including Johnson & Johnson, Lehn & Fink and Sterling Drug Co. Dr. Mundy was preceded in death by his wife, Claire E. Mundy, nee Kretz; sister, Mrs. W. G. Vermilion; Two brothers, Marvin Mundy and B.W. Mundy, Jr. His survivors include his son, Roderick Ashby Mundy, Jr., and his wife Francine of Naperville Ill.; grandson, Lawrence R. (Susan) Mundy of Oak Lawn Ill.; sister, Dorothy A. Mundy of Salem.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hampton Sydney College, Hampton Sydney, VA 23943.

Funeral Services will be private.
