*Bobby Brown went to court Friday to seek custody of his and Whitney Houston’s teenage daughter. Brown and his attorney asked Orange County Superior Court to dismiss a default judgment issued in December that granted Houston sole custody of 14-year-old Bobbi Kristina. Brown wasn’t given enough time to respond to Houston’s divorce filings, his attorney Stacy Phillips said: “He didn’t have his day in court.” Judge Claudia Silbar ordered Brown and Houston to argue their case at an Oct. 22 hearing before she decides who will get custody.

* If one of the stars of “The Nine” is added to “24” should the show be called “33” this season? Probably not. The Emmy-winning Fox thriller has added John Billingsley in a recurring role and Jeffrey Nordling as a regular for the upcoming seventh season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nordling will play an FBI agent named Larry and Billingsley will play somebody named Latham.

*Salvatore Ferragamo has appointed Cristina Ortiz as the chief designer of its women’s ready-to-wear line, replacing Graeme Black, who recently left the company. Most recently Ortiz, who lives in Italy, headed the women’s line at Brioni, following four years as chief designer for Lanvin. She previously worked for Prada as design director from 1994 to 1997.
