Hoping to wear yellow and blue again next season, this time for a certain school in Ann Arbor, Glenbrook South’s Sean Progar finally has the game tape worth sending to the Wolverines’ coaching staff.
Following a quiet start to the season, the multi-talented Progar hurt Highland Park from both sides of the ball Friday night in keeping the Titans undefeated thanks to a 22-13 come-from-behind victory.
Progar, anchoring a defense that has held three straight opponents under 14 points, sacked Giants quarterback Johnny Lindquist three times and harassed him plenty more in keeping Highland Park (1-2) scoreless over the game’s final 13 minutes.
Offensively, Progar, at fullback, bowled in from 2 yards out in the final quarter to give Glenbrook South (3-0) an insurance TD, while strengthening his case for Michigan.
“They wanted me to send them a tape after the first few games,” said Progar, who has drawn interest from a handful of Division 1 schools. “But I hadn’t had a sack all season long. Tonight I had three. That felt good.”
Crediting Titans coach Mike Noll for lining him up opposite to where he had started the season, the 6-3 Progar failed to draw the usual double- or triple-coverage and made the Giants pay.
“The first two weeks he was invisible,” said sophomore tailback Justin Klise, who rushed for 115 yards (23 carries) and the winning touchdown (1 yard) that capped a 14-play, 54-yard drive. ” He was a monster.
Fellow running back Michael Hirsch put the titans on the board with a 15-yard run early in the second quarter as the host giants went on to build a 13-3 halftime lead, thanks to a pair of Lindquist TD passes.
