Block party, anyone?
The most expensive block in Chicago is the block bound by Armitage Avenue and Willow, Burling and Orchard Streets on the North Side, according to a recent forbes.com analysis.
Forbes.com reached this conclusion after mapping the 100 most expensive properties in the city and measuring the concentration of pricey homes in each area.
In Chicago, several blocks were in close contention for the title, but the North Side block was chosen because a few of Chicago’s wealthiest — including insurance magnate Richard Parrillo and real estate mogul Penny Pritzker — combined lots, according to forbes.com.
“People have been able to combine as many as seven city lots to build massive new homes,” Deborah Fischer, a broker at Koenig & Strey, told the financial news Web site.
