It was her return to the stage after too many tabloid headlines about substance-abuse problems and erratic behavior, but, alas, the performance was strangely listless, distracted and mumbly.

Well, at least British soulstress Amy Winehouse actually was singing at Wednesday’s MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards in London, where she was named best U.K. female singer.

As an online clip of the performance shows (it has been on YouTube and Pop Machine), this could be one of the later scenes in a sad documentary down the road — or, we hope, the downbeat section before the triumphant rebound.
