*COLLEGES: Northwestern junior quarterback C.J. Bacher, who threw for a school-record 520 yards and five touchdowns on 38-for-48 passing in Saturday’s 48-41 overtime win at Michigan State, was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week. Bacher’s effort was the fifth-best passing performance in Big Ten history.
*NHL: Paul Stastny had a goal and four assists and Milan Hejduk scored twice as the Avalanche defeated the Sharks 6-2. Colorado captain Joe Sakic had a goal and an assist to move past Phil Esposito into eighth on the NHL career points list with 1,591. … Center Richard Park signed a two-year extension with the Islanders through the 2010 season. Park had 10 goals and a career-high 16 assists last season, his first with the Islanders.
*AUTO RACING: Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari won the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, while Lewis Hamilton’s chances of becoming the first rookie to capture the title were put in jeopardy as he ran off the track in slippery conditions. Fernando Alonso finished second. Hamilton now has 107 points, Alonso 103 and Raikkonen 100.
*RUNNING: Ukrainian Mykola Antonenko won the men’s race and Russian Svetlana Ponomarenko was the women’s champion at Sunday’s Twin Cities Marathon in St. Paul. Antonenko’s time of 2 hours 13 minutes 54 seconds was more than six minutes faster than second-place finisher Joseph Mutinda. Ponomarenko won in her first marathon after running neck and neck with Sharon Cherop for much of the 26.2-mile route. Her winning time was 2:34:09. … Tom Nyariki of Kenya won his first Boston half-marathon and set a course record, winning in 1:02:19. In the women’s race, Edna Kiplagat of Kenya won in 1:13:35.
*NBA: Chris Bosh scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Raptors held off a spirited Virtus Lottomatica Roma squad for a 93-87 exhibition victory.
