Walter Hoeft, age 89, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1949, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock, IL. He was born Sep. 26, 1918 in Chicago.

Loving husband for 61 years of Sophia, nee Kaup, Hoeft; beloved father of Marilyn (Richard) Swanson of Fennville, MI, Joanne (Richard) Lind of Woodstock, Kathleen (Michael) Brechon of Rockford, IL and Carolyn (Lucio) Miele of Batavia, IL; adored grandfather of 12; cherished great-grandfather of four; devoted son of the late Walter and Bertha Hoeft; dear brother of the late Margaret Hoeft.

Walter grew up in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, graduated from Austin High School and later attended Northwestern University, Chicago and Aurora University, Aurora, IL. Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

He retired from Western Electric Co. in 1979 after 45 years of service.

Walter was a longtime member and usher at SS. Peter & Paul Church, Naperville and was also a member of V.F.W. Judd Kendall Post #3873 and American Legion Post #43, both in Naperville.

Visitation Monday, Oct. 22, 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in the chapel at St. Patrick’s Residence with Monsignor John Dalton officiating.

Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville with U.S. Army military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Patrick’s Residence.
