Lake Michigan (Chicago Lakefront)

Fair batches of trout and salmon reported in lakefront harbors, biting on spawn sacks. Burnham reported most active. Snaggers doing well in Jackson and Lincoln Park lagoons. No reports of perch yet.
Lake Michigan (Lake County)
**
Some steelhead action off Waukegan piers on shrimp, roaches and other baits. Best action is south harbor near Government Pier. A few browns reported near Johnson Motors pier. Open water action limited.
Southeast Wisconsin

Kenosha shore fishing slow, but anglers near Pike River mouth and slightly upstream report good numbers of chinooks and browns. In Racine, downstream stretches of Root River offer number of chinooks, occasional browns and coho. At Milwaukee lakefront, chinooks caught at McKinley ramps and pier on orange and gold spoons or crankbaits.
Chain O’Lakes

Overall activity quieter with cooler temperatures, although muskie fishing is expected to pick up this weekend particularly in northern lakes. Walleyes still good in currents while stripers also moderately active in river.
Kankakee River

Smallmouth bass good on both sides of state line. In Indiana, top spot is near Point, north of English Lake. In Illinois, try Glorydale through Momence to Theresa Island; Aroma Park through Kankakee Dam; Kankakee through Sawmill Creek and Wilmington Island Park area. Catfish, rock bass and crappie action also continue to be good.
Fox River (Batavia)
** 1/2
Water temperature has dipped to around 55 degrees, but conditions largely unchanged with larger walleyes around dams biting on large or extra-large fatheads. Smallmouth also still active.
DuPage County Forest Preserves
**
Opening of trout season postponed until Nov. 3 and Grove Lake, Deep Quarry Lake and Silver Lake remain closed until then. Elsewhere, a variety of fish caught at Salt Creek at Fullersburg Woods. Crappie reported moving into shallower waters, biting best on live minnows.
