Jay-Z and the write stuff

Jay-Z has a message for all the aspiring MCs out there: Write down your lyrics.

“I’ve inspired a generation of bad writers,” the rapper joked to MTV News during an interview in which he discussed lyrics and songwriting.

So how long has it been since Jay-Z put pencil to paper? The last time he actually wrote down lyrics was for “Can I Live,” a track on his 1996 debut, “Reasonable Doubt,” Jay-Z said.

“It just felt better [the way I do it now], he told MTV. “Your natural process is your process.”
