DISTRICT 15

The Palatine Police Department will present an Internet safety program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Winston Campus cafeteria, 900 E. Palatine Rd., Palatine. Topics will include chat rooms, instant messaging, blogs, MySpace, Internet predators, online bullying and safety tips and equipment. Because of the topics, the program is open only to adults. DISTRICT U-46

Seventh graders will present the second annual Expert Fair from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Commons at Kenyon Woods Middle School, 1515 Raymond St., South Elgin. Students’ families are invited to view their projects and share a pot-luck dinner. Call 847-289-6685.

DISTRICT 47

An instructional meeting for elementary and middle school music students and their parents will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Richard Bernotas Middle School, 170 N. Oak St., Crystal Lake.

DISTRICT 158

A holiday craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hannah Martin Elementary School, 10920 Reed Rd., Lake in the Hills.

DISTRICT 214

The Elk Grove High School Instrumental Parents Organization will sponsor a fundraiser for the instrumental music programs on Sunday. A percentage of each sale between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 590 E. Golf Rd., Schaumburg, will be donated to the EGHS band and orchestra. A portion of the proceeds between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Fuddruckers, 436 E. Golf Rd., will be donated to music education. Vouchers for both locations are available at the school and each location.

A dance workshop for children 3 to 13 hosted by the Wheeling High School Orchesis will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the high school, 900 S. Elmhurst Rd. An optional pizza party will be held from 6 to 6:40 p.m.Students will perform a joint concert with Orchesis members at 7 p.m. in the Sang Theater. Workshops include preschool class, ballet, dance with props, boys dance, drama, jazz/hip hop, musical theater and lyrical jazz. The cost is $25, which includes a ticket for the evening performance, a certificate and a souvenir T-shirt. The pizza party is an additional $5. ELGIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The Elgin Community College Musical Theatre will hold auditions for people 16 and older for its production of “Big River — The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in Room 284D of the Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive. Singers and actors from 40 to 60 and African-Americans are especially needed. Auditions are by appointment only. Actors should prepare a musical number from any other Broadway show. Bring a copy of sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped accompaniment or a cappella singing. Dress comfortably and wear appropriate shoes for a dance audition. MCHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE

Auditions for the spring musical “Company” by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth will be held at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Black Box Theatre, Room D167, at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. OAKTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

A preview performance of “The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow” will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Rd., Des Plaines. Tickets cost $5. Regular performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 9, and 8 p.m. Dec. 6. Tickets cost $10, $8 for students and seniors.
