2 die in separate shootings
Two Chicago teens died Saturday in separate shootings on the Southwest Side, Chicago police said Sunday. Jose Garcia, 18, was shot in the chest Saturday evening when shots were fired into the parked car where Garcia sat along South Hoyne Avenue in Back of the Yards, Officer Marcel Bright said. Earlier, Mauricio Gonzalez, 18, of West 62nd Place was shot in the head in what authorities describe as a drive-by shooting just before 1 a.m. Saturday.
Man is third to die from crash
A third person died of his injuries in the fiery crash that killed two people and injured a fourth rider when the car they were traveling in struck a traffic light pole last week, Chicago police said Sunday. Antonio Martinez, 25, of the 3500 block of South Western Avenue, died Saturday as a result of the one-car crash near Harrison Street and Ogden Avenue that occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. Feb. 24.
Police search for missing woman
Sumei Hu flew into O’Hare on Feb. 26, returning to her American husband after a long visit with her family in China. But somewhere between customs and the terminal waiting area, Hu disappeared. Her family and Chicago police are trying to determine what happened to the 38-year-old Chinese woman. Hu’s family said she was wearing a brown hat, black jacket with fur trim, a pink sweater, green gloves and jeans. Anyone with information should call 312-746-8365.
