CRASH DEATH: A third person has died after a fiery weekend plane collision at a Florida airfield, the National Transportation Safety Board said Sunday. A fourth person remains in critical condition.
CLOSED: A chain of popular Middle Eastern restaurants owned by a man linked by federal authorities to terrorists has gone out of business. A company spokesman said the La Shish restaurants in Michigan saw business fall off by 50 percent after federal agents raided Talal Chahine’s homes and businesses in 2005 looking for evidence of a $6.5 million tax evasion scheme. He fled to Lebanon that year, prosecutors said.
RELEASED: More than two dozen teens who were arrested after seven police officers were hurt in a violent demonstration at Miami Edison Senior High School have been released, an attorney said Sunday.
RESCUE: The Coast Guard in Miami says it has plucked two ailing passengers from a cruise ship that was south of Cuba. Coast Guard officials say the 88-year-old man and 80-year-old woman were airlifted Friday from the Holland America cruise ship Westerdam when the ship was about 80 miles south of the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay.
BOOKS, TOO: Toys for Tots, the national charity run by the Marines, is to announce the Toys for Tots Literacy Program on Monday. The group will collect books and deliver them to disadvantaged children.
