The doors of Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago will be closed on Easter while workers repair the 19th Century vaulted ceiling that has weakened with age, the Chicago Catholic Archdiocese said Friday.

Cardinal Francis George will offer the first Easter mass March 22 in the newly renovated St. Joseph Church, 1107 N. Orleans St.

Weekend and Holy Week liturgies will be celebrated in Holy Name’s Parish Center auditorium. Weekday masses will be offered in the Club Room on the lower level of the Parish Center. Baptisms will take place in the chapel on Superior Street and confessions will be heard in the Casa Jesus chapel, 750 N. Wabash Ave. All scheduled weddings have been relocated to St. Joseph. Funeral masses will be offered in nearby parishes.

The cathedral has been closed since Feb. 26.
