CLOSED: Video artwork by an Iraqi-born, Chicago-based artist will not be shown again at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York, institute officials said Monday. The work, “Virtual Jihadi,” features an electronic image of the artist, Wafaa Bilal, as a suicide bomber who assassinates President Bush. The piece was shown last Wednesday but was shut down the next day pending a review.
FISH RECALL: Gorton’s Inc. said Monday that the pills a Pennsylvania family reported finding in their fish fillets were harmless over-the-counter herbal supplements. About 1,000 cases were recalled in Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
BEAR SUIT: Three conservation groups sued the Department of the Interior on Monday in San Francisco for missing a Jan. 9 deadline on a decision to list polar bears as threatened because of the loss of Arctic sea ice.
