They found a kick-ass room to throw this post-Lenten party. “Carnaval” is a conflagration of live rock music, theater performances and DJs with a Brazilian Carnaval theme (the spelling in Portuguese) — all held in a wide-open gothic cathedral. Feather dresses, drinking and dancing under the stained glass — sounds like a fine farewell to the flesh.
Carnaval is 9 p.m. March 29 at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 201 S. Ashland Ave.; $25-$75 donations (ages 21+), call 312-226-9633.
Sketchbook Festival will be May 15 to June 15 at the Steppenwolf Merle Reskin Garage Theatre, 1624 N. Halsted St.; visit collaboraction.org.
