Prompted by the recent anniversary of an alleged alcohol-related crash that killed five teenagers in Oswego, school and law enforcement agencies have scheduled a community forum to discuss underage drinking.

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. April 2 in Churchill Elementary School, 520 Secretariat Lane, Oswego.

The forum was conceived by several community leaders and organized by Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird.

Representatives of the village, Oswego School District 308, the Kendall County sheriff’s office and the Kendall County state’s attorney’s office are scheduled to attend, the Oswego Police Department said.

Participants and the public will discuss enforcement and education practices, and various agencies’ philosophies and services.

On Feb. 11, 2007, a car packed with eight teenagers and a driver authorities say was drunk crashed into a utility pole in Oswego, killing five of the teens.

Charges of aggravated drunken driving are pending against Sandra Vasquez, 23, of Aurora, whom authorities say was driving the car.
