The Dallas Morning News, citing an unnamed source, reported Friday that the Cowboys and Titans have held preliminary talks about a trade for suspended Tennessee cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones.
Manny Arora, Jones’ agent, prefers that his client be traded before the NFL draft April 26-27.
The Patriots and the Lions also have expressed interest in obtaining Jones.
An NFL spokesman said Jones, suspended since April 2007 for violations of the NFL conduct policy, can still be traded to another team.
The Cowboys are $3.9 million under the salary cap, and Jones is scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.292 million whenever he returns to the field. Jones, 24, is scheduled to become a free agent following the 2009 season.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he will review Jones’ suspension before training camps open in July.
*Pro Bowl linebacker Lofa Tatupu agreed to an eight-year, $42 million contract with the Seahawks. It keeps Tatupu from becoming a free agent after the 2009 season.
*The estranged girlfriend of former Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson denies that he punched her at a suburban restaurant this week. Lindsey Paulat said Wilson got upset but only shoved her when he saw her drinking Wednesday.
