Man shot last summer dies

A man paralyzed after he was shot last summer has died, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Christopher Knight, 22, of the 2500 block of West Montrose Avenue died Friday. He was shot July 5, the medical examiner’s office said. Police Officer JoAnn Taylor said Knight was sitting in a parked car about 2 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Ingleside Avenue when someone approached the vehicle and fired.

Coach charged with sex abuse

A Chicago firefighter and girls swimming coach at Lincoln Park High School has been charged with indecent solicitation of a child and criminal sexual abuse, officials said Saturday.

Dennis Goggin, 42, was arrested Thursday, police said.

Chicago Public Schools spokesman Mike Vaughn said Goggin was fired Friday. Goggin also has been placed on paid administrative leave from the Chicago Fire Department.

A woman who works for the Cook County medical examiner’s office has been charged with stealing a diamond ring and diamond earrings from the body of a Berwyn woman.

Yolanda Harrington, 42, who worked as an autopsy technician for about 3 1/2 months, was arrested Friday, officials said.
