*The Channahon Park District is looking for volunteers to adopt flower beds. Groups would be responsible for planting and maintenance of the beds through spring, summer and fall. All planting materials and tools would be provided. Call 815-467-7275 or see www.channahonpark.org.
FUNDRAISERS
*The second annual De-clutter for a Cure rummage sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 16921 Elm Lane Drive in Tinley Park. There will be kitchen items, jewelry, clothing, toys, books and many other items for sale. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Call 708-743-3681.
*The Plainfield Police Department will hold its annual DARE Walk Fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 14300 S. Coil Plus Drive. All 5th graders and their families from Central, Lincoln, Eagle Pointe, St. Mary’s, Freedom, Walker’s Grove and Grande Prairie Schools are invited. There will be department tours, a police car show, moonwalks, a DJ and lunch. Call 815-436-6544.
*Together We Cope’s fifth annual golf outing and dinner has been postponed until May 29 due to weather. The outing will take place at Odyssey Country Club, 19100 Ridgeland Ave., Tinley Park. Lunch and registration will be followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. There will be hole-in-one contests with prizes. The cost is $120 for golf and dinner, $85 for golf only and $45 for dinner only. All proceeds will help Together We Cope provide families in the southwest suburbs with food, financial assistance and clothing. Call 708-644-5040.
THOSE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
*Students from Joliet Junior College, the University of St. Francis and Lewis University participated last month in the Will County Relay for Life. More than $36,000 was raised to benefit the American Cancer Society.
