Bail denied in strangling case
Two men who allegedly strangled and dumped the body of a female acquaintance from Hillside last weekend were denied bail during a hearing Thursday. Martin Lyons, 20, and Nico Lewis, 18, have been charged with one count each of first-degree murder, according to Chicago police. The victim was identified Thursday as Tanika Hinton, 21. The two men were arrested after Lewis was seen, by an acquaintance of the woman, driving Hinton’s car.
Drugs, guns taken in raids
Four guns along with thousands of dollars of cocaine and marijuana were seized from two Southwest Side homes, Chicago police announced Thursday. Two people were arrested during the raids. An investigation into two street gangs that were believed to be dealing drugs in the area led officers to the homes, police said in a news release. Police estimated the cocaine’s street value at more than $72,000.
