The Wicker Park/Bucktown nightlife landscape has undergone dramatic changes in recent years. At the epicenter of it all: the six-corner intersection of Milwaukee, North and Damen Avenues.
Walk a few feet in any direction on a weekend night and you’ll bump into bargoers, resident hipsters and club kids clamoring to get into the newest lounge or restaurant — not to mention the latest influx of trend-seeking Lincoln Parkers scoping out new hot spots. It all makes for an extremely eclectic crowd, which is what you’ll find at The Flat Iron, a 4 a.m. bar that opened Friday.
What was formerly The Note is now a straight-up tavern. The once-dark walls now pop with vibrant murals. Apart from the artistic flair, The Flat Iron sticks to the basics with three pool tables, a jukebox, plenty of seating and two bars to keep crowds watered.
The Flat Iron should be a laid-back hang for locals earlier in the evening and a late-night stomping ground for night owls looking to carry on until the sun comes up.
1565 N. Milwaukee Ave.; 773-365-9000. Hours: 4 p.m.-4 a.m. Sun.-Fri., to 5 a.m. Sat.
