After a tumultuous journey, Hillary Clinton will formally withdraw as a presidential candidate Saturday, publicly declaring support for Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Clinton drew the wrath of some Democrats when she did not acknowledge Obama’s victory in her speech on Tuesday night. Her farewell address to supporters, on Saturday at the National Building Museum, is intended to repair any lingering damage.

The two senators made progress in their search for common ground during a private meeting Thursday in Washington.
