*BOXING: Wladimir Klitschko stopped Tony Thompson with a right hand in the 11th round Saturday to defend his heavyweight title in Berlin. Klitschko (51-3, 45 knockouts) put the American down 1:38 into the round.

*FOOTBALL: Matt D’Orazio threw eight touchdown passes to lead the Philadelphia Soul to its first appearance in the Arena Bowl with a 70-35 win over the Cleveland Gladiators. Philadelphia will face the San Jose SaberCats. Mark Grieb threw eight touchdown passes, five of them to Cleannord Saintil, in an 81-55 win over Grand Rapids.

*SOCCER: Brad Guzan, 24, could become the fourth American goalkeeper in the Premier League after Chivas USA and Aston Villa agreed to a transfer fee. Guzan would join Brad Friedel at Blackburn, Tim Howard at Everton and Kasey Keller at Fulham in England’s top soccer league. … Ronaldinho reportedly will break his contract with FC Barcelona if need be to play in the Beijing Olympics.

*TENNIS: Michael Chang was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I. … Andy Roddick withdrew from a World Team Tennis match in St. Louis, citing a lingering injury. In a statement, Roddick said he’s been dealing with the injury since mid-May. He did not specify the injury.

*TRACK AND FIELD: Dwain Chambers won the 100 meters at Britain’s Olympic trials and now must wait to see if a judge overturns his Olympic ban. Chambers, returning from a two-year drug ban, finished in 10.00 seconds.
