Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The PDA that rendered your datebook obsolete has been rendered extinct itself by Web-based tools. Here are three:

— Get nagged for free by birthdayalarm.com, which sends reminders via e-mail or cell-phone text for all those important dates, including holidays.

— Yahoo bugs you twice: Select “Reminders” at yahoo.com, and you will be e-mailed the right one at the right time, to any e-mail address you choose. If you use “New Yahoo Mail” instead of “Classic,” you also get a timeline at the bottom of your screen, which displays upcoming events.

— Social networking sites, such as plaxo.com, also provide alerts, and after you log on, you can set your preferences regarding frequency or repetition of reminders.
