Ellen’s new gig

Ellen DeGeneres, 50, is the new face of CoverGirl.

The talk show host made the announcement on Tuesday’s show, according to people.com, and the cosmetics company had a picture of DeGeneres on its Web site.

“You know how I always like to share what’s going on in my life with you all, and I was going to give you some news and, unfortunately, rumors started circulating all over the Internet,” she said.

“I am here to set the record straight right now. I am not pregnant. It just turned out to be a bump. I went and had it checked out,” she joked. “I am the new face of CoverGirl.” The ad campaign featuring Ellen is supposed to debut after the first of the year, she said.

MTV regulars discuss ‘next step’

How do you celebrate the big 2-2?

If you’re “The Hills” star Heidi Montag, you and your boyfriend tell Ryan Seacrest about your birthday date on his syndicated radio show.

Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt, both regulars on the MTV reality show, talked with Seacrest about taking the next step in their relationship, a plan that Pratt said is “definitely imminent.”

Asked if they think about having kids together, Montag replied: “I want, like, four … . Maybe I’ll adopt like 10. I want to have my own orphanage like Mother Teresa.”

Rap battle brewing?

Is 50 Cent trying to start another feud with Kanye West?

The rapper seemed to be mocking West at a concert Saturday in New York state, according to an account on mtv.com.

After telling the crowd he was going to perform the first single off his upcoming album, which he said is titled “Before I Self Destruct,” 50 launched into West’s new material.

“That’s what y’all are left with,” he said in an apparent jab toward the Chicago rapper.

So is he still bitter about last year’s album battle, when both rappers released albums on Sept. 11? (50 Cent lost in that sales race.)

Now the two are slated to go at it again: They both reportedly have album drops in December.

Lil Wayne’s big day

Lil Wayne says he is the best rapper alive.

Now, BET just might back up his claim. Wayne has received 12 nominations for the BET Hip-Hop Awards, besting Kanye West’s seven and Jay-Z’s six.

And the hits keep coming for Wayne: The rapper scored the year’s best-selling album sales debut this month, with sales of 1 million copies of his new CD, “Tha Carter III.”

For the third straight year, Katt Williams hosts the show, which also will honor mogul Russell Simmons with the “I Am Hip-Hop” icon award. It airs Oct. 23.

Can I get a lift?

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” host Ty Pennington recently found himself in an extreme situation: Out of gas and standing next to his vehicle along a Michigan highway at night.

Lucky for Pennington, a Monroe, Mich., woman and her teenage daughter drove by.

Diane Grassley told The Monroe Evening News that she was driving her 16-year-old daughter to a bonfire party on Saturday night when they noticed a man standing next to a Chevrolet Suburban.

Colleen Grassley, a sophomore at St. Mary Catholic Central High School in Monroe, recognized Pennington, and they pulled over to greet him.

“He acted as if he was embarrassed,” Diane Grassley said. “He asked if we could give him a ride to get gas.”
