Reading David Sedaris on the train (or in bed, or at a cafe, or wherever you don’t mind being overheard snorting out loud) is one thing. Listening to him read in his own voice on the radio is another. But being in the same room with the guy, hanging on his every word and sigh and shuffle of assorted loose-leaf papers lined with the brilliantly witty material produced in his brain, it’s worth a couple Benjamins. Especially now: lord knows we could all use a good laugh. Sedaris’s latest, “When You Are Engulfed in Flames,” is, rather loosely, about death.
