About 1,000 people living near the site of the medical helicopter crash in Aurora were asked by police to evacuate their homes Thursday evening after engineers raised concerns about the structural integrity of the radio tower involved in the accident.
Investigators believe the helicopter clipped one of the wires attached to the tower.
Aurora Police Sgt. Chris Whitfield said everyone within 1,000 feet of the tower was being evacuated.
