A camera for the blind, a battery-powered sports car and the world’s fastest computer. These are not the latest James Bond gadgets or tools in a sci-fi movie, they are just a few of the items that made Time magazine’s list of the 50 Best Inventions of the Year. Here’s a look at just a few:
Touch Sight camera: This camera for the blind works when the picture-taker holds the camera to his or her forehead. Then, a Braille-like screen on the back makes a raised image of what the lens sees.
Hulu.com: Hulu offers shows from NBC, Fox, PBS and other channels, including full episodes of “SNL,” “The Daily Show” and “The Office,” and movies such as “Ghostbusters” and “The Fifth Element.”
The Speedo LZR Racer:
94 percent of Olympic swimmers wore this uniform in Beijing. The suit, designed by NASA experts, has a corset built in to improve buoyancy and is made of fabric that stops muscles from vibrating in the water.
