It’s your dream — every time you’re sitting in one of those seats and the curtain comes up. Just once, the lights! The applause! Let it be for you! Well, kid, here’s your chance. Your big shot. You’ve got the talent, you’ve got the drive — and frankly, Victory Gardens doesn’t care. All the theater wants to know is if you’ve got the money. This Saturday is its 27th Annual Casting Auction, a fundraiser that lets anyone with a checkbook bid their way into a starring role in a Victory Gardens production. This year’s show is “Mame,” with about 50 starring and supporting roles. Including Vera Charles, Agnes Gooch, Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside, young Patrick — and Mame Dennis, whose fabulous Jazz Age life is interrupted when she becomes the caregiver for her 10-year-old nephew during the Depression. As in years past, Victory Gardens artistic director Dennis Zacek will direct, with two performances Feb. 20-21 at the Athenaeum. 6 p.m. Saturday at the Victory Gardens Biograph, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave.; $60-$75, 773-549-5788, ext. 2140 and victorygardens.org. Jazz Age costumes encouraged.
