*BASEBALL: Former White Sox player and coach Tim Raines signed a two-year contract to manage the Newark Bears of the independent Atlantic League. … Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to unseal thousands of pages of grand jury transcripts and other documents from the government’s BALCO steroids investigation. The motion comes in response to a request by slugger Barry Bonds’ lawyers to unseal the documents so they can prepare for his March 2009 trial.

After the round, Sorenstam was selected to a random drug test as part of LPGA policy. … Jason Hak, A 14-year-old from Hong Kong became the youngest player to make the cut at a European Tour event on Friday, breaking the record set by Sergio Garcia.
