Blue Jays 4, Athletics 2: Lyle Overbay hit a towering two-run homer with two outs in the 12th off Dan Giese, who was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day. Toronto has won seven of eight against Oakland.
Indians 22, Yankees 4: Mark DeRosa and Shin Soo-Choo each hit a three-run homer and manager Eric Wedge got his 500th win. It was the Indians’ most runs since beating New York 22-0 on Aug. 31, 2004.
White Sox 8, Rays 3: Paul Konerko homered and drove in three runs for the Sox, who have won five of seven. Konerko has seven RBIs in his last five games.
Twins 9, Angels 2: Jason Kubel had his second consecutive four-hit game, delivering a two-run double in a five-run fifth inning as the Twins won back-to-back games for just the second time this season.
Red Sox 6, Orioles 4: Kevin Youkilis fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in four runs. He went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and two doubles as the Red Sox won their third straight after starting 2-6.
Royals 2, Rangers 0: Zack Greinke did not allow a run for his third straight start, striking out a season-high 10 for his first career shutout. Greinke has thrown 34 consecutive scoreless innings, including 20 this year.
Tigers at Mariners: Edwin Jackson has won both of his previous career starts against the Mariners, allowing a lone run on nine hits over 15 innings. Seattle’s Erik Bedard has 14 strikeouts in his first two starts.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Mets 1, Brewers 0: Johan Santana breezed through seven innings in his first start at Citi Field, never allowing a baserunner past first. The Mets took advantage of an error in the seventh to scratch out the run.
Pirates 10, Braves 0: Craig Monroe hit two three-run homers. It was the fourth multihomer game of his nine-year career and the third time he had six RBIs.
Marlins 9, Nationals 6: Jeremy Hermida hit a three-run homer in the 11th after tying it with a two-out, two-run shot in the ninth, and the Marlins won their sixth straight to improve to a big league-best 10-1.
Cubs 7, Cardinals 5: Aramis Ramirez hit a two-out, two-run homer in the 11th to win it. Angel Guzman pitched a scoreless 11th inning for his first career win.
Diamondbacks 2, Giants 0: Chris Young hit a two-run double in the ninth and Doug Davis pitched eight shutout innings for his first win since Aug. 29, 2008.
Dodgers 9, Rockies 5 : Manny Ramirez hit his first two home runs of the season — and dropped a fly ball for his first error — and Andre Ethier also homered twice in the Dodgers’ seventh straight victory.
Astros 7, Reds 0: Wandy Rodriguez gave up only two hits and struck out 10 in seven innings, striking out the side in the third. Geoff Blum drove in three runs.
Padres 8, Phillies 5: Brad Lidge blew his first save in 54 chances dating to Sept. 23, 2007, allowing four runs, including Kevin Kouzmanoff’s three-run homer. He was 48-for-48, including postseason, last year.
