Rapper Wale always had a career in hip-hop in mind for himself — even if everyone else didn’t.
“When I told girls I wanted to be a rapper, they told me to get a life,” he tells billboard.com. “It was the ultimate turnoff because everyone thought it was unrealistic.”
It’s very real now: Wale’s track “Chillin’,” which guest-stars Lady Gaga, slowly is climbing the charts and building anticipation for his debut album: “Attention: Deficit,” scheduled to drop in late September.
Wale keeps his lyrics pretty chill too: “My reality is the same as a lot of people’s,” he says. “Chances are that you know more about my lifestyle than that of a gangster — I buy regular cars and try to meet nice girls. I’m trying to make music a large group can relate to.”
