Red Sox 6, Orioles 5: David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and Jacoby Ellsbury homered to lift Boston. Aubrey Huff and Nolan Reimold had two-run shots for Baltimore.

Rays 8, Royals 2: Carlos Pena smacked a three-run homer in the first inning and David Price scattered five hits over seven innings to lift Tampa Bay.

White Sox 10, Yankees 5: Carlos Quentin, Jim Thome and Chris Getz each drove in two as Chicago went 6-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Eric Hinske hit a two-run homer for New York.

Tigers at Indians: Fausto Carmona made his return to the Cleveland rotation. Detroit’s Edwin Jackson lasted seven innings in five of his last six outings.

Mariners at Rangers: Texas starter Vicente Padilla made his first start in two weeks after suffering from swine flu. Jason Vargas started for Seattle.

Angels at Twins: Minnesota’s Nick Blackburn is 5-0 with a 2.67 ERA at home. Los Angeles’ Ervin Santana is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA at the Metrodome.

Blue Jays at Athletics: Nine of Toronto’s last 15 losses have come by one run. Oakland is beginning stretch of playing 16 of 22 games at home.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Pirates 5, Nationals 4: Steve Pearce homered and Lastings Milledge added a pair of RBI singles as Pittsburgh snapped a five-game losing streak.

Marlins 5, Cubs 2: John Baker had an RBI single and Wes Helms added a two-run double in a three-run eighth for Florida. Chicago’s Rich Harden struck out 11 in five innings.

Rockies 5, Reds 3: Chris Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez hit back-to-back homers in the eighth to snap a 3-3 tie. Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips homered for Cincinnati.

Dodgers 5, Braves 0: Andre Ethier hit a three-run homer and drove in four. Jason Schmidt allowed one hit and five walks in six innings for his second win.

Diamondbacks 3, Mets 2: Justin Upton scored on Sean Green’s wild pitch in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie. Mark Reynolds and Miguel Montero added homers.

Cardinals 4, Astros 3: Matt Holliday had an RBI double and Rick Ankiel added an RBI single in a two-run eighth as St. Louis returned to first in the NL Central.

Brewers at Padres: Milwaukee began a nine-game road trip as it started Braden Looper. San Diego’s Chad Gaudin has allowed just one homer in his last five starts.

Phillies at Giants: Former Indian Cliff Lee made his Philadelphia debut against San Francisco rookie Ryan Sadowski. Lee is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in two career starts against the Giants.
