When the Russells have to go away for a trip, they leave their kids (one of whom is played by a very young Macaulay Culkin) with the titular character (John Candy). Uncle Buck, incidentally, is a slobby bachelor and a big Chicago sports fan.
‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’

All Neal Page (Steve Martin) wants to do is get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving. All Del Griffith (John Candy) can seem to do is get in the way.
‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’

Bueller? Bueller? The story of high-schooler Ferris Bueller’s (Matthew Broderick) day of hooky is nothing short of an ode to the Windy City. From Wrigley Field to the Art Institute to the building formerly known as the Sears Tower, Bueller and friends get a suspicious amount of sightseeing done in one afternoon.
