Tigers 10, Twins 8: Alex Avila hit his first career homer and Miguel Cabrera hit his 22nd of the year. The Tigers scored six in the first and held off a ninth-inning rally.
Orioles 7, Blue Jays 5: Nolan Reimold had two RBIs to help rookie Jason Berken win for the first time since May 26. The Orioles are 6-15 since the break.
Indians 6, White Sox 2: Kelly Shoppach homered twice and drove in four runs and Jeremy Sowers pitched seven innings to improve to 4-7.
Athletics 9, Royals 4: Scott Hairston had two hits and drove in three runs and Cliff Pennington scored twice and added a pair of RBIs. A’s scored five in the fourth.
Red Sox at Yankees: Red Sox starter Josh Beckett has faced the Yankees twice this season, winning both with an ERA of 5.82. A.J. Burnett is coming off his shortest outing of the season.
Rangers at Angels: Joe Saunders is 0-2 with a 15.00 ERA and seven walks in nine innings against the Rangers this season. Scott Feldman beat the Angels earlier in the year and is 10-4 this season.
Rays at Mariners: Mariners ace Felix Hernandez is 4-3 with a 4.01 ERA at pitcher-friendly Safeco. Overall, he’s 12-4 with a 2.78 ERA. Lifetime against the Rays he’s 1-1.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cardinals 6, Pirates 4: Matt Holliday hit a two-run home run as the Cardinals won for the seventh time in 10 games. Albert Pujols had three hits.
Nationals 7, D’backs 6: Josh Willingham hit a two-run single in the seventh, capping a five-run comeback and extending the Nationals’ season-high win streak to six games.
Marlins 3, Phillies 2: Ricky Nolasco went seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits and Nick Johnson and Cody Ross hit solo home runs.
Astros 6, Brewers 3: Jason Michaels homered twice and Bud Norris struck out seven in six innings, allowing two runs and three hits to improve to 2-0.
Cubs at Rockies: Carlos Zambrano was a late scratch after tweaking his back playing long toss. Sean Marshall got the emergency start against Ubaldo Jimenez.
Mets at Padres: Oliver Perez is 2-3 with a 4.55 ERA in six career starts against the Padres and will face Kevin Correia.
Braves at Dodgers: Andre Ethier’s game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth Thursday was his fifth walk-off hit of the season.
Reds at Giants: Giants ace Tim Lincecum has at least eight strikeouts in 10 consecutive starts and is tied for the NL lead with 12 wins.
