We’re keeping an eye on Jay Cutler during his first Bears camp.

Out in the open: Cutler started Wednesday night’s practice at Olivet Nazarene completing all six passes in 7-on-7 drills.

Through the air: During full-team drills, Cutler mainly worked on handing off the ball on a run-dominated night. He had a ball intended for Desmond Clark picked off at the 2-yard line by Al Afalava and had a sharp pass over the middle to Earl Bennett for a 10-yard score.

SEC bragging rights: Saturday night’s exhibition makes for an interesting matchup between Cutler and the Giants’ Eli Manning. They last met in 2003, when Manning led Ole Miss to a 24-21 victory over Cutler and Vanderbilt. Manning threw for 275 yards (22 of 33) and one touchdown; Cutler 248 (20 of 32) with two scores and an interception.

From the top: General manager Jerry Angelo on the expectations of Cutler: “We know the guy is a heck of a talent. It takes time. They have to integrate within the system. … It’s not about one man.”
