Introducing the Chicago Bears, your Super Bowl runners-up.
That’s what Sports Illustrated says, so we can call that the kiss of death.
No Super Bowl here, but we’re getting closer. I’ve got us at 10-6 and in the playoffs — that’s all I know right now.
In fact, we may be 0-3. At Packers, home against the Steelers (ouch) and at Seattle. We’re horrid in Seattle. That’s 0-3, people, and we have a good team.
I’ll take two wins against Detroit. Some things never change.
We’ll split against the Vikings. By the way, I think we should spend our tax dollars for a new outdoor stadium — for the Vikings. It could be worth at least one win a year. Remember, Brett Favre is good for just as many boneheaded plays as he is great plays — maybe even more. That’s why we split.
We’re at the Falcons. That’s a loss — they’re good, and they play in a dome. Enough said. We’re at the Bengals, home against the Browns. Those are two wins against the AFC’s worst.
Week 9, home against the Cardinals. I say this in all seriousness — I can’t remember ever losing to the Arizona Cardinals.
At the 49ers in November. Sorry, Mike Singletary, I love you, but this is a Bears win.
Eagles at home is a win. They’re good, but not that good.
We’re into December now, at home against the Rams. Dome teams outdoors in December? Bears field the practice squad and still win by seven.
Packers at home Dec. 13. Christmas in Chicago, and it’s a win against Aaron Rodgers. Ever see this guy in cold weather? Not that good.
We’re in Baltimore a week later. I smell a pounding … taken, not given.
It’s OK, though, Week 17 at home against Detroit. Nice tune-up win for the playoffs.
There’s where it comes apart: Too many questions in the defensive secondary, average receivers, it all adds up to something good, but not great.
Hey, don’t blame me. Blame SI. They started it.
