After watching player after player fall victim to injury Sunday, I was tempted to call the president to lobby for fantasy football insurance as part of ObamaCare. I’m sure once he understands the plight of fantasy owners suffering from the loss of Frank Gore, he’ll see it’s the right thing to do. Until then, heed my advice about your team’s boo-boos.
Dr. Fantasy’s ER
Glen Coffee
RB, San Francisco
A gimpy ankle means Frank Gore will be riding your pine for a couple of weeks. His less-talented backup has two favorable matchups ahead, so think of Coffee as a decaf version of Gore.
Chad Henne
QB, Miami
Chad Pennington’s likely done for the season, meaning the Dolphins now have Chad, Part II. Henne has a strong arm, but he’s probably not yet a starting fantasy QB.
Laurent Robinson
WR, St. Louis
Everyone’s favorite waiver wire pickup is now everyone’s favorite waiver dump after his season-ending injury.
Maurice Morris
RB, Detroit
Kevin Smith’s shoulder may keep him out of the Lions’ game against the Bears, but Mo-Mo just won’t have much impact against Lance Briggs and Co.
Matt Hasselbeck
QB, Seattle
Hasselbeck might play Sunday after missing a week with a cracked rib, but neither he nor backup Seneca Wallace is a good play against the Colts.
Locks of the week
Calvin Johnson, WR, vs. Bears:
No Kevin Smith + iffy Bears secondary = big game for Megatron. Sorry, Chicago.
Ronnie Brown, RB, vs. Bills:
Miami will rely on the run to take the pressure of its new QB.
Carson Palmer, QB, vs. Browns: Poor Cleveland can’t do anything right. Start as many Bengals as you can Sunday.
