In just the third game of their eight-game odyssey, the Blackhawks looked a little lost in North America.
The Hawks entered Tuesday night’s game against the Senators riding a three-game winning streak, including victories in their first two games of the season-long trip. But after playing one of their poorest games of the season, they left Scotiabank Place a 4-1 loser.
Though a little early in the trek to be road weary, that’s exactly how the Hawks appeared as goaltender Cristobal Huet was a bit shaky and the offense couldn’t get untracked except for Marian Hossa’s short-handed goal. The defeat dropped the Hawks to 34-12-4 overall and 13-7-3 on the road.
“For some reason we weren’t ready [Tuesday night],” Hossa said. “This wasn’t our team. We didn’t deserve to win. It was one of those games. We just have to learn from it, forget about this game and recharge [Wednesday]. We need to have a good practice and get ready for the next one.”
Huet yielded first-period goals to Zack Smith and Ryan Shannon, one in the second to Peter Regin and a third-period score to Mike Fisher as he dropped to 22-9-3.
