Two would-be car thieves were thwarted when they couldn’t start the car they were attempting to steal at 7:45 p.m. March 30 in the 0 to 100 block of Randolph Street in Oak Park.

The car’s owner was approached from behind by two teens and struck on the head with a hard object by one of the teens who then pointed a gun at her, authorities said.. He struck her a second time and demanded her car keys. She complied, but her assailants could not start the car and ran.
