The death of “a young female” Thursday morning at Fermilab in Batavia did not involve foul play, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office.

The fatality, which occurred about 10:50 a.m. in the atrium of the 16-story Wilson Hall at the 6,800-acre national laboratory, remains under investigation, sheriff’s spokeswoman Dawn Domrose said. The name of the person who died was not being released until her family had been notified, Domrose said.

The building manager found the body after hearing a noise in the atrium, a Fermi spokesman said. Batavia paramedics who responded to the scene pronounced the person dead shortly after 11 a.m., the Fermi official said.
