The Chicago Tribune’s comprehensive review of the scientific evidence of marijuana’s medicinal value revealed scant evidence that marijuana is a safe and effective treatment for most of the conditions identified in a legislative proposal pending in the Illinois House of Representatives (Pot of Gold or Pipe Dream, May 5, 2010). The extensive examination by Tribune reporter Trine Tsouderos was balanced and objective. It provides a timely evaluation for the public and the Illinois legislature. The reporter was not picking sides in this controversial proposal, just reporting the facts. Well done.
