Just out of curiosity, we asked people on Facebook if they thought their co-workers were using too much Facebook or other non-work distractions. Here are a few of their responses:

“This is a very common problem,” said Diane Beaulieu. “I would guess that most companies have blocked these types of sites from their internet access. However I know that one of my friends works with someone who uses her Blackberry to chat on Facebook, etc. I am sure it’s a real productivity issue for some companies. I am about to institute a no-texting policy at my business.”

This would be bad news for Karen Berrios: “Texting is the only way I can keep in touch with my kids during the day since neither one of them has the capability of making phone calls.”

Then there was the Stacy Redden’s post: “Had a co-worker who slept at her desk AND cut her fingernails at her desk. Had another who would go into the supply closet to try on clothes she ordered online … got busted in there. And a bunch of co-workers who would hoard slices of pizza when lunch was brought in and save them for lunch the next day. Writing this I am sort of thankful my job was outsourced to India as I would have gone insane with that crap.”

Kim Brownsberger McMahon simply wanted to know, “I am a stay-at-home mommy that busts her husband for playing with his iPhone at the dinner table. Does that count?”
