The Apollo Theater, a venerable but recently dark venue in Lincoln Park, is getting a new musical revue from New York.

Conceived by Jack Lewin and directed by David Zippel, “Going Bacharach: The Songs of an Icon” features the famous songs of the highly influential pop composer Burt Bacharach, best known for such catchy titles (among others) as “Alfie,” “Close to You,” “What the World Needs Now,” “That’s What Friends Are For” and “I’ll Never Love This Way Again.” Bacharach, who collaborated often with Hal David, died in 2023 at the age of 94.

The new show, which features three vocalists and a five-piece band and was generally well received in New York, will play a limited run at the Apollo (2550 N. Lincoln Ave.) from April 21 to May 17. One of the vocalists, John Pagano, toured with Bacharach for many years. “Going Bacharach” played earlier this year at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York.
