Hopefully someone in Springfield will have the courage to step up and say no to the unions and politicians that have gotten us into this financial mess. The free ride is over. I do not get a pension, so I have to take care of my own retirement like most citizens in Illinois. I did not sign on to cover the expanding costs of continuing a program that has clearly run its course. It took no courage to increase taxes; in fact, it was the easy way out. Overhauling the current system is what is needed. And to those of you who voted for Quinn: thanks for taking us down with you.
