I was stunned to see the Tribune endorse Rahm Emanuel for mayor of Chicago (“For mayor: Emanuel,” Feb. 6). I was under the impression that the Chicago Tribune stood for integrity and principle but I guess I was mistaken. Does it matter that the election law says that a person must live in Chicago for at least one year to be eligible to be on the ballot for mayor? I guess when you are used to doing business like the Obama administration does (if you don’t like the law, ignore it) then getting on the ballot for mayor of Chicago is no big deal.
Chicago does not need some big-time name for its mayor, the people of Chicago need to be unleashed to realize their own potential. All I hear from all these people is more of the same nonsense: higher taxes and fees, more regulation, more government, class envy and class warfare, racial division. The Tribune should endorse no one for mayor but encourage the citizens of Chicago to find their own mayor.
