Metra trains on the Union Pacific lines were running normally again after signal problems caused delays earlier this morning.

A malfunction with the Union Pacific signal system was causing delays for commuters this morning on all three Union Pacific lines — the UP North, the UP Northwest and the UP West — a spokesman said.

The malfunction was in effect between about 6:30 and 7 a.m., and trains returned to schedule a short time later, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.

Delays were 15 to 20 minutes.
