Score: Sox 9, Rockies 8.
Spring record: 3-6-1.
At the plate: Gordon Beckham drove two of his three hits to right field, a good sign for a No. 2 hitter.
On the mound: Anthony Carter bailed John Danks out of a fourth-inning jam and finished with 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
In the field: Third baseman Mark Teahen got some help from Beckham at second to complete a double play. His throws to first were accurate.
Rookie progress: Offseason changes appear to be working for Tyler Flowers and Jordan Danks, who look more polished at the plate.
Up next: At Giants, 2:05 p.m. Wednesday. RH Jake Peavy vs. LH Barry Zito.
