Hubbard Inn is a total bar scene, especially in the early after-work hours, but the food is surprisingly sophisticated. The space boasts a brick-and-timber decor and includes a cool, marble-topped bar downstairs and faux-library touches upstairs. Reservations strongly recommended, 110 W. Overall restaurant rating: ?
Classic preparation; well dressed; coarsely chopped.
Big shrimp, chopped octopus. Really good.
Has a great coarse, liquid-salad texture. Tart and tangy.
Two meaty thighs in a Mediterranean prep.
Cheddar grits act like polenta; love the pickled tomatoes.
Terrific fish under a rhubarb-balsamic glaze.
Decent but needs more bitter greens for balance.
Small, thin, very crispy. I already miss the asparagus-mushroom-ricotta version, which is off the menu.
Might be the best thing on the menu. Love the spicy slaw.
18 beers on tap, 18 more bottled.
Desserts are outsourced. Spend your calories elsewhere.
Pan-seared trout was very disappointing, but it’s off the menu. Just as well.
